Finding Ethel – Utilizing Local and Regional Resources

When researching our family history most of us instantly go to a search engine, forgetting the incredible availability elsewhere of all kinds of family information.  That “elsewhere” could be a local or even regional library that also has something the internet does not: Ethel.  Marcia would like to introduce us to Ethel.  She has been working in the basement of the County Courthouse for many years, sorting and preserving documents and arranging them in a way that makes sense to her as a family historian.  Marcia Holstrom will help us understand what original sources may be available and how to access those records.

Marcia Murray Holstrom started her genealogy research in 1975. She received her M.A. in Geography from SJSU. She taught Geography at SJSU and De Anza College and genealogy in adult education programs in San José and then Campbell.  She has been a member of the SCCHGS for many years and currently serves as the Chair of the Pioneer Society, a lineage society for longtime residents of Santa Clara County.
