The City of Santa Clara is comprehensively updating its Zoning Ordinance, Title 18, and this Joint Council Study Session with the Planning Commission will discuss the topics of Safe Parking and Assisted Living. Safe Parking provisions are intended to legalize the ability to sleep in one’s vehicle in specific off-street parking lots which would be required to adhere to operational and safety standards through new Code provisions or permit conditions. The City also intends to discuss the topic of Assisted Living, and how to regulate the spectrum of senior living arrangements from stand-alone senior residences with few supportive services to nursing homes.
