A Talk with Artist and Educator, Paul Richardson.

The Santa Clara City Library is proud to present this special talk with artist and educator Paul Richardson from his home in Handa City, Japan! We go into depth about his early beginnings and how music and education has led him to starting a school in Japan.

We also dive into the Black Lives Movement in Japan as well as how COVID-19 has affected the population, amongst other topics. Please tune into this interview, premiering on September 4th, at 12PM (PST)!

Bio:

Paul Richardson, also known by his stage name, Paulie Rhyme, is an artist, educator, father and expat living in Handa, Japan. Paulie Rhyme is known from his work with Bay Area producers deedot, Rey Res, and the Bangerz, as well as fronting the live Hip Hop band Finless Brown. Internationally, Paulie Rhyme has worked with artists, such as Nomak (Japan), L'Indecis (Chillhop/France), Kondor (Poland), and A June & J Beat (Korea/Columbia). He continues to perform mostly in Asia, and is currently fronting a funk band in Nagoya, Japan called the Bacteria Sound Machine and releasing projects through his own company, Infinity Funk Music.

As an educator, Paul has been teaching for over 10 years. His career started first in San Francisco, then Nagoya, and now he teaches and runs Chubu International School in Handa with his wife. A life long learner, Paul has a B.A in Political Science from Hiram College (OH), a teaching certificate from CalState Teach, and a M.Ed from Cleveland State University.
