Santa Clara City Attorney Glen Googins will be leading a training session on Open Government and Ethics rules on Thursday, October 26, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Santa Clara City Hall, Council Chambers. Topics to be covered include:
- State Open Meeting laws (the Brown Act)
- The Public Records Act
- Conflicts of Interest rules
- Gift limitation/disclosure requirements
A variety of other rules governing the conduct of local public officials in California will also be covered, as well as a general presentation on the City of Santa Clara’s own ethics rules.
The training will be oriented towards those needing to satisfy the State’s AB 1234 Open Government and Ethics training requirements. This includes all City Councilmembers, certain Boards and Commission members, and certain City staff. For such parties, AB 1234 Certificates of completion will be issued to those who attend the session and request them. There will also be an “intermission” about half-way through the training, with pizza, soft drinks and desserts available.
To help with arrangements, if you are planning on attending, please RSVP to cityattorney@santaclaraca.gov. We look forward to seeing you there!
