Searches performed on the main City website will also include content the City Code website, the Legislative Public Meetings and Agendas, and all subsites including: Silicon Valley Power, SVP Fiber, Santa Clara Library, and Silicon Valley Animal Control Authority (Animal Services).
Searches performed on each subsite will only include content from that particular site.
2. How do I search by dates?
Once you submit a search, the results are sorted by relevance. To sort by date, change the "Sort by" option to "Date."
3. Why does some content not display a last updated date?
Certain search results will not display any last updated date such as phone directory, facility directory, service directory and meetings and agenda items. Certain published web pages will also not display the last updated date since they are a collection of multiple pages that change dynamically. Lastly, pages that may not display the last updated date include those pages that are generated via templates.
The search results for events and news items will display the date of the event and the date the news item was posted.
4. Why is some content not showing in the Search Results?
The search is performed only on the main City website, City Code website, and Legislative Public Meetings and Agendas contained in the "Legislative" application. These websites are revised frequently and may not be indexed by the search engine. In such cases, the content may take up to 24 hours to be included in our Search. If you still cannot find something that you're looking for, submit an inquiry to our Web Manager.
5. How do I perform an advanced (Boolean) search?
The search provides the ability to formulate complex (Boolean) searches.
Search all important words Use "AND". For example, art AND wine.
Exclude words from your search
Put - in front of a word you want to leave out. For example, jaguar speed -car
Search for an exact match
Put a word or phrase inside quotes. For example, "tallest building".
Combine searches
Put "OR" between each search query. For example, marathon OR race
6. What is the purpose of the tabs filter?
The Tabs filter enables you to view search results by content type.
