  • Alcoholic Beverage Control Recognizes Santa Clara Police Department

The California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) awarded the Santa Clara Police department with a Significant Achievement Award for its efficient use of grant funds over 2016 and 2017. The department led operations to reduce crime and public nuisance problems associated with public intoxication, problematic bars and retail outlets, facilitate alcohol education programs, combat alcohol-related incidents surrounding Santa Clara University and reduce the use of false identification to purchase alcohol.

  • The City of Santa Clara was rated as the 23rd best place in America to raise kids by the National Council for Home Safety and Security.
  • Silicon Valley Power, the City’s electric utility, won the 2017 Resource Efficiency & Community Service Award from the California Municipal Utilities Association for its program to help small business customers install energy efficient products.
  • The City of Santa Clara was approved by the World Health Organization to be officially designated as an “Age Friendly City” in the Global Network of Age Friendly Cities.
  • Silicon Valley Power, the City’s electric utility, received the Paul J. Raver Award from the Northwest Public Power Association for its efforts to provide highly reliable power at low rates, diversify resources and invest in renewable energy.
  • The City of Santa Clara was honored as a “Tree City USA” by the National Arbor Day Foundation.
