Silicon Valley Power Recognized as a Smart Energy Provider: Silicon Valley Power earned a Smart Energy Provider (SEP) designation from the American Public Power Association (APPA) for demonstrating a commitment to and proficiency in energy efficiency, distributed generation and environmental initiatives that support the goal of providing safe, reliable, low-cost and sustainable electric service. |

2021 American Public Works Association Project of the Year Award for Environmental / Parks Category: The Reed & Grant Sports Park Project was awarded with the Project of the Year Award for the Environment/Parks (>$25M) Category from the American Public Works Association Silicon Valley Chapter.

2021 Award for Excellence in Information Technology Practices from the Municipal Information Systems Association of California (MISAC): The MISAC award recognizes the City for implementing information technology practices that excel in creative and efficient uses of local government resources. The award signifies that the City has met or exceeded MISAC standards in the technology-focused areas of Budget and Strategic Planning, Purchasing, Operations and Staffing, Customer Satisfaction, Internet, Project Management, Professional Development and Training, Disaster Preparation and Recovery, Policies and Procedures, Security, and GIS.

3CMA 2021 Savvy Award in Digital Interactive - Overall website (population 44,000 and up) The City-County Communications & Marketing Association announced the 2021 winners of its national Savvy Awards Competition during a ceremony at the Hyatt Regency St. Louis, MO on Thursday, Sept. 9. More than 800 entries in 40 categories were received. The City of Santa Clara ranked first in the category for the website redesign.

2021 CMUA Resource Efficiency & Community Service Award for outstanding projects advancing best practices and innovative ideas in the water and power industry. Silicon Valley Power took first place among the large-size utilities in the Energy Programs category for its innovative Energy Efficiency Grant Program for Small Businesses. SVP committed $1 million in energy efficiency grants for small businesses impacted by the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Key to the Community California Parks & Recreation Society, District 4 Recognition: The Parks & Recreation Department received recognition for the Healthy Meals Santa Clara Youth summer meals program. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Santa Clara Parks & Recreation Department operated a meals program to Santa Clara families from March - August 2020 at five Commodity Point of Distribution sites weekly and trained over 400 City staff as Disaster Service Workers.

2021 Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award from National Procurement Institute, Inc.: The City of Santa Clara was 1 of only 64 cities in the U.S. to receive the award. The award recognizes the City of Santa Clara Finance Purchasing Division for organizational excellence in public procurement, measuring innovation, professionalism, e-procurement, productivity, and leadership attributes of the procurement function.

Silicon Valley Power Honored with National Award for Outstanding Safety Practices: Silicon Valley Power (SVP) earned the American Public Power Association’s Safety Award of Excellence (APPA) for safe operating practices in 2020. The utility earned a first place award in the category for utilities with 250,000 – 999,999 worker-hours of annual worker exposure, meaning that it had a perfect score with an incidence rate of zero.

2020 Certificate of Achievement in Excellence in Financial Reporting: The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) awarded a Certificate of Achievement in Excellence in Financial Reporting to the City for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2020. The Certificate of Achievement is a prestigious national award, recognizing conformance with the highest standards for preparation of state and local government financial reports.

Mission Branch Library LEED Silver Certification: After nearly three years of improvements and ongoing collaboration with Silicon Valley Power, the Mission Branch Library is LEED Silver Certified through the U.S. Green Building Council. Some measures included water and energy efficiency, lighting and ventilation, materials reuse, low emitting paints, flooring and sealants, and even water efficient landscaping.

Clean Water Environment Association Award: The Water & Sewer Utilities is the recipient of the Santa Clara Valley Section of the Clean Water Environment Association’s (CWEA) Sewer Collection System of the Year – Medium Size. This is a testament to the work of the entire Water & Sewer Utilities team. From customer service and administrative staff, to engineers, compliance staff and field crews, and the Public Works staff, the entire team helped to make winning this award possible. The City’s application highlighted its commitment to customer service, its commitment to protecting the environment and public health by preventing Sanitary Sewer Overflows (SSOs) on the City’s 288 miles of sewer mains, and continued work to provide vital services to customers during the pandemic.

Capital Budget Excellence Award for Fiscal Year 2020/21: The California Society of Municipal Finance Officers (CSMFO) budget award is designed to recognize agencies that have prepared a budget document that meets the highest criteria and standards applied to municipal budgeting. |

Silicon Valley Power Receives RAD Champion Award 2021: For ensuring the proper disposal of refrigerant-containing appliances by using best environmental practices that go beyond what is required by federal law, including recovering appliance insulation foam, encouraging the recycling of all durable goods, and promoting the permanent retirement of old, inefficient appliances to save energy. |

Silicon Valley Power Ranks Second Place in the Nation for Green Power Excellence from the U.S. Department of Energy: SVP’s high percentage of renewable energy sales through the Santa Clara Green Power program earned it an impressive second place on NREL’s national green power sales rate list.
