Affordable Rental Housing

Please note while every effort is made to keep this listing up to date, some information may not be current. As many of the properties listed in this resource guide manage their own waitlists, please contact the properties directly to inquire whether or not they are accepting applications for their waiting list.

All eligible households are encouraged to apply. City of Santa Clara local preference policy will be applied giving preference for households who live and work within the city limits of the City of Santa Clara.  City Council approved the local preference policy on July 13, 2021. RTC 21-880 (PDF).

Eligibility for affordable rental housing is income restricted, as are rents.  Please refer to the Santa Clara County median income limits table below.  This table also provides the Santa Clara County rent limits for the affordable housing rental units.

NEW Affordable Housing Rental Projects

• Lorien - Accepting Applications for waitlist starting Nov. 1, 2024 through Nov. 15, 2024.

  Lorien is a multi-family development located in Santa Clara, with 225 residential units. There are 11 affordable rental housing units consisting of studio, 1- and 2-bedroom apartments.
  
  Eligibility Requirements:
  To qualify, applicants cannot exceed the annual gross income requirement based on their household size. See below for additional information.
