Background
On July 10, 2018, residents from the Civic Center-Warburton Neighborhood expressed concerns over parking at a Santa Clara City Council meeting. At this meeting, the City Council directed City staff to prepare a work plan and return to City Council with a scope and budget to address these concerns.
On March 26, 2019, the City Council approved an agreement with W-Trans to complete a parking study and community outreach of the area.
Updates
On May 9, 2019, the City held Community Meeting #1 to hear the concerns of the neighborhood and discuss the parking demand study's objective, scope of work, survey locations, and schedule.
On December 11, 2019, the City held Community Meeting #2 to discuss the parking survey results and initial recommendations. The Community provided feedback and the City expanded the survey locations as a result.
On September 1, 2021, the City held Community Meeting #3 on Zoom to provide project updates, final parking study results, and obtain feedback and input on recommendations.
On December 14, 2021, staff presented project updates, the final parking study results, and a recommendation for diagonal parking on Civic Center Drive. The Council voted to approve the parking study results not to proceed with diagonal park on Civic Center Drive.
Following the City Council meeting, staff evaluated existing parking restrictions in the area and were able to restore four (4) on-street parking spaces within the study area.
