City of Santa Clara
MenuLafayette Street Crosswalk Removal
About the Project
In conjunction with the City’s 2022 Annual Street Maintenance and Rehabilitation Project, the City plans to remove eight existing crosswalks at seven intersections along Lafayette Street. These crosswalks do not provide a connection between existing sidewalks as there is no existing sidewalk along the west side of Lafayette Street and parking is not allowed. Furthermore, the Union Pacific Railroad tracks block any connection from Lafayette Street to Bassett Street at these locations. The intersections affected are Lafayette Street at Aldo Avenue, Clyde Avenue, Eisenhower Drive, Hogan Drive, Laurie Avenue, Montague Expressway West, and Palm Drive. Pedestrians that need to cross Lafayette Street to access Bassett Street should use the existing crosswalks on Agnew Road, Norman Avenue, and Laurelwood Road. Additionally, public comments concerning these crosswalk removals should be submitted to the City by August 8, 2022 and should be addressed to:
