The State of California implemented a program for all sewer agencies to develop an SSMP establishing methods and programs to meet specific goals relating to the effective operation of sewer collection systems.

Staff revised the SSMP in order to comply with California's State Water Resources Control Board requirement of updating it every 5 years; this update to the SSMP supersedes that which was approved by Council on April 7, 2020 (Resolution No. 20-8833):
