Water makes up about 70% of the world's surface, helping to regulate the Earth's temperature. The most common substance found on Earth, water is the only substance found naturally in solid, liquid and gas forms. We depend on water to live; it touches every part of our lives. Some interesting facts about water:

Water makes up 60% of the human body and 73% of the human brain
It takes 450 gallons of water to process a quarter pound hamburger patty!
87% of a pineapple and 95% of a tomato is water
Of all the Earth's water, nearly 97% is found in the ocean and seas
Less than 2% of the Earth's water is frozen in ice caps and glaciers
Only 1% of the Earth's fresh water is suitable for drinking
Water people drink today may have been part of the dinosaur era
The average Californian uses 85 gallons of water each day (costing 90¢ in Santa Clara)
