Water Main Replacement Project: Amethyst Drive
When
Construction Work
September 30, 2024 to December 20, 2024
7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday
Note: This is a projected schedule and the dates are subject to change. City crews may face delays resulting from weather conditions or needing to address unexpected events as they arise elsewhere in the City. The Project Manager will regularly maintain the Department website with updates to project status, as project milestones are reached, or if there are changes to projected end date.
What
City crews will install replacement water mains. The City will perform this critical work to replace aging water infrastructure for a new 2,350 feet of water main. At the conclusion of water main construction, City utility crews will transfer all existing water services from the former water main to the newly installed water main. This effort will require a brief shutdown of water services. Affected customers will be contacted by City staff at least 24 hours in advance of any disruptions to coordinate and minimize inconvenience. Existing fire hydrants will be replaced in new locations as necessary.
Following the completion of the Water and Sewer Utility Department’s work for this project, the City Street Maintenance Division or approved City contractors will repair all asphalt and concrete cuts made in any of the affected streets. Temporary pavement will be periodically maintained until permanent pavement is installed. Please contact the Water and Sewer Utility Department at 408-615-2000 or WATER@santaclaraca.gov should vehicular or pedestrian traffic be impacted by temporary pavement conditions. We ask for your patience and cooperation, and request that you bear with us during this period of construction. After services are transferred, the existing system will be disconnected and the existing fire hydrants and valves may be removed.
