A note from our Cultural Commission Judges: Participation doubled this year, so it was even harder to judge because there were so many entries that could have gotten 'Best of the Best. Thank you, participants. Sharing the contestants’ Halloween spirit! Visit all the decorated homes on the map.

Decorate outside the home with Halloween décor. Submissions will be accepted for each council district, the best group entry, and best of the best categories. Winners will be announced Wednesday, Oct. 30 in the evening on the Cultural on the Cultural Commission’s Facebook and Instagram.

How to enter

GROUP ELIGIBILITY

Only one entry per group will be accepted. Have a group leader complete and submit the entry form that includes a list of group members and their addresses.

Groups can have two or more people and two to eight households (all participants must be Santa Clara residents).

Households must be contiguous - next door neighbors, live in connected units, and/or adjacent to each other, in the same neighborhood, block, complex, street, cul-de-sac, or building.

CONTEST RULES

Open to residents of the City of Santa Clara.
Contest is only for residential homes (apartment, home, condo, or townhome) and judging is based on decorations of the exterior only.
To be considered for voting: you must complete the online entry form.
Select members of the Cultural Commission will vote for the eight winners.
Judging criteria: 5 categories, each worth 5 points:

Explanation of "What my decorations mean to me, my family, our group, and/ or my household". Maximum of 4 sentences,
Lighting,
Decorations,
Creativity, and
Overall theme.

JUDGING

The Cultural Commission will judge homes in-person by driving to the contestants’ addresses.
Eight winners will be selected:
- One winner will be selected for the Best of the Best award.
- One winner will be selected for the Best Group award.
- Six winners will be selected by District - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. View the map to see which district you live in.
- The solo and group contestants can only win one award.

What you win

Winners will be announced Wednesday, Oct. 30 on the Cultural Commission Facebook and Instagram.
You will be notified by email if you have been selected as a winner.
Solo and group winners will receive one decorative yard sign. Signs will be delivered by a Commissioner.
A Mayoral certificate will be mailed to the solo and group winners.
Photos of winning homes and addresses will be featured on City of Santa Clara social media and website.
Houses will be added to the Google Map.
