2020 State of the City
The 2020 State of the City went virtual this year. Mayor Lisa M. Gillmor held three virtual townhall meetings about the State of the City on June 17, 18 and 19, 2020.
Two districts were represented during each session. City Manager Deanna J. Santana provided an overview of the City budget, and City Clerk Hosam Haggag served as the moderator during the question & answer session in which the public asked questions and provided comments about City-related issues.
- Districts 1 & 2 - Wednesday, June 17, 4 to 5 p.m.
- Districts 3 & 4 - Thursday, June 18, 4 to 5 p.m.
- Districts 5 & 6 - Friday, June 19, 4 to 5 p.m.

In advance of the State of the City, City Manager Deanna J. Santana released a Community Letter about 2020 Mid-Year Update.
COVID-19 Community Hero Awards
During the 2020 State of the City events, the Mayor and City Council honored COVID-19 Community Heroes. Awards were given for all six Council districts and one citywide COVID-19 Pandemic Hero of the Year for providing aid and services to the Santa Clara community during this public health emergency. Below are our COVID-19 Community Heroes.

COVID-19 Community Hero District 1California's Great America CA Great America provided tremendous support to the Healthy Meals Santa Clara program, providing free meals to youth during the pandemic. |
COVID-19 Community Hero District 2Patricia Hernandez Patricia Hernandez provided support to her neighbors in shopping, getting face masks, and connecting the community to resources for food, financial support and emotional support. |
COVID-19 Community Hero District 3Nob Hill Foods Nob Hill Foods recognized for providing Senior Bags delivered curbside for a minimal cost and for always taking care of their customers in a spirit of neighborliness. |
COVID-19 Community Hero District 4Nancy Uyeda Nancy volunteers at St. Justin’s Parish, providing over 2000 Santa Clarans per month with groceries or to go meals. |
COVID-19 Community Hero District 5Mission City Grill Mission City Grill recognized for exceptional community service, including personally delivering meals to seniors, the Bill Wilson Center, several women’s shelters, local hospitals, and providing free and reduced price meals to our first responders, public safety and nurses. |

The City will also livestream all three State of the City events on the City’s Facebook page and YouTube channel. All events will also be broadcast on Santa Clara City Television on Comcast cable channel 15 and AT&T U-verse channel 99
