ISC Status Updates
Nov. 1, 2024
The City of Santa Clara remains committed to preserving the International Swim Center’s legacy and plans are underway for repairs of the training and racing pools; the diving well, buildings/storage areas and grandstand will be closed indefinitely.
Since the last update, Tucker Construction has been awarded the contract to install the fencing tentatively scheduled to begin in early-January 2025.
On October 22, 2024 the City Council awarded a contract for pool replastering to Adams Pool Solutions. The pool is tentatively scheduled to be drained in early-January 2025 with completion of masonry and plastering tentatively in late-March. Adverse weather, supply chain and/or labor issues have the potential to impact this schedule.
Consecutively, the City is working to obtain the required permits through the County of Santa Clara and schedule inspections at the appropriate milestones.
A meeting with the Santa Clara Swim Club, Santa Clara Diving and Santa Clara Artistic Swimming is planned by year-end to discuss the project timeline and pending Agreement negotiations.
Lap swim continues to be available to the public at Mary Gomez Pool and the Santa Clara Senior Center. View the current lap swim schedule.
Aug. 20, 2024
On June 25, 2024 the City Council approved funding for up to $2 million to remediate the International Swim Center (ISC) and provide temporary use of the pools for a limited capacity (up to 200 persons at one time).
Staff issued several Request for Proposals seeking vendors to complete the work required to remediate the deficiencies and allow for temporary occupancy of the pools. The City has a fluid project timeline that includes bids received, review, and procurement in October and work will be completed in the first quarter of 2025. We are hopeful the pools will be reopened in 2025. The timeline is tentative pending how the work progresses. Program scheduling and pool use will be completed upon the City and Santa Clara County Health Department providing operational approvals.
The City is committed to providing Lap Swim to the public. View the current lap swim schedule.
